Milky Oats


Use the dried oat tops or straw to make a nourishing tea blend. Add one big handful (½ – ¾ cup) to a glass quart jar. Pour boiled water over the herb, cover, and let steep overnight to extract as much of the medicinal and nutritive qualities as possible.

Oat straw is sweet tasting, very potent and full of vitamins, minerals and proteins. Drinking a Nourishing Herbal Infusion on a regular basis is not only delicious but it also supports the body’s healthy response to stress and the optimal function of both the nervous system and the hormonal system. To make a Nourishing Herbal Infusion, measure out one ounce of dried herb and place it in a quart jar. Fill it to the top with boiling water, put the lid on the jar and let it steep for 4 to 10 hours. Then strain out the spent herb, compost it and drink the strained infusion. The goal is to drink one quart of Nourishing Herbal Infusions each day! The five recommended nourishing herbs to rotate through are Comfrey leaf, Nettle leaf, Oat straw, Red Clover blossoms and Linden leaf and blossoms. Enjoy!
