  • We absolutely love Calendula and Tulsi! A long row of Calendula looks like thousands of miniature Suns, brightly beaming toward the sky, from two feet off the ground. A row of Tulsi appears to be a dense patch of green, until you get closer and see an infinite number of purple blossoms, bursting outward like tiny little flags waving the honeybees toward them. Nourish in a Salve embodies the bliss of both of these botanical beauties and drenches the skin in a bounty of goodness! Read more… Calendula: contains flavonoids, triterpenes, saponins, volatile oil, salicylic acid, a soothing demulcent. Calendula is a powerful vulnerary both externally and internally. It has long been used to soothe and mend cuts, burns, bites, sprains, bruises, rashes, sunburns, and abrasions due to its antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, hemostatic, and vulnerary actions. Calendula also contains salicylic acid so it works as an analgesic to help ease the pain associated with these types of wounds and skin irritations. Calendula also soothes itching. Due to its vulnerary and regenerative properties, calendula is even used on persistent wounds and old scars.   Tulsi or Holy basil: has antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, adaptogenic, immunomodulating, antioxidant, neuroprotective, radioprotective, anti-cancer, alterative, antispasmodic, expectorant, decongestant, carminative, stimulating, emmenagogue, galactagogue, nervine, heart opening, and antidepressant actions. Like many plants in the mint family, holy basil works to open and balance, particularly in the head, the heart, and the stomach. Holy basil is considered to be helpful in the prevention and treatment of cancer. Preclinical studies have shown that holy basil “prevented chemical-induced skin, liver, oral, and lung cancers”; and was shown to “mediate these effects by increasing the antioxidant activity, altering the gene expressions, inducing apoptosis, and inhibiting angiogenesis and metastasis.” (Baliga et al., 2013).   Ingredients: Organically grown Calendula and Tulsi infused in extra virgin olive oil, ethically harvested bees wax and Grapefruit and Bergamot essential oils
  •   Hypericum Salve We made this salve out of necessity for ourselves. Farming is hard work and hard work makes for sore muscles. But St John’s Wort  goes deeper than that. Read on…   SJW’s anti-inflammatory, vulnerary, astringent, and antimicrobial actions make it a powerful healer for wounds, bruises, burns, sprains, and muscle pain. SJW will reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation associated with many injuries that affect the skin and muscles (Hardin, 2014). Its antiseptic properties (Chevallier, 1996) help prevent infection in wounds and burns. SJW helps relieve the pain associated with damaged nerves and neuralgia, and is helpful for painful sciatica, shingles, and rheumatism. It can even heal and repair nerve sensation in nerves damaged by traumatic injury or other causes. In fact, SJW is known as “arnica for the nerves” due to its strong healing abilities. Germany’s Commission E approved external preparation of SJW for use for “sharp or abrasive wounds, muscle pain, and first-degree burns” (American Botanic Council, 1999). One clinical study of SJW as treatment for wound healing and scarring associated with Caesarean surgeries found that women treated with SJW ointment experienced “significant differences in wound healing on the 10th day…and scar formation on the 40th day postpartum” as women in the placebo and control groups, as well as significantly lower pain and itching (Samadi, 2010).   Ingredients: Fresh St. John’s Wort flowers infused in extra virgin olive oil and ethically harvested beeswax
